Racing is alive and well in the East!!!!!

(Pics and video later, I think my camera went to Windsor instead of Oshawa!)

First Ontario Cup race this past weekend.  Mansfield always hosts the first OCup due to its sandy terrain and ability to handle rain with ease, and this year was no exception.  Rain threatened all day, but didn't follow through.  Sean Ruppel of Chico Racing designed a SUPER FAST course that wasn't too much of a shock to the early season legs and thankfully for me, favored the big wheels of a 29er!

With the volcanic ash causing havoc with travel plans to Europe, the start line was packed with many "A+" riders who were previously not going to be attendance.  Add in a solid group of riders from la belle province, AKA Quebec, and you have a great day of racing.  Anyone who says that we are in the dark days of xc racing needs to open their eyes!  Sure there aren't the huge, rockstar contracts out there, but the top level of the sport is only one spoke of the huge wheel that is cycling and in eastern Canada, that wheel is true and strong.  When people are willing to make the 7+ hr drive from Quebec to race an OCup it speaks volumes to the quality of our racing.

As usual a huge thanks goes out the Chico Racing for putting on the BEST mountain bike events in Canada.  Those guys work so hard to make sure everything goes off on time and everyone enjoys their experience.

Another huge thanks goes out to Zach and Barry from Trek Toronto for making sure my bike was dialed and making sure everything is perfect for race day!  I feel sssooooo fortunate to be able to ride on the best equipment available and be supported by the best people in the industry.

Finally, thanks to everyone who came out and cheered.  You have no idea how much those help you get through a tough few minutes in a race.  Special thanks to Havi for his usual services despite me racing against his boys!
