First REAL Oxnard Ride

Today was my first real ride in Oxnard. Tuned up the road bike and decided to head up the coast toward Ventura. Once I got re-acquainted with the craziness that is SoCal traffic I was really stoked to be exploring the roads. Temperature was a comfy 24c with a weird wind coming from inland that was gusty at times up in the foothills. My route took me along the Channel Islands harbour, past more shopping plazas then all of Whitby, up into the foothills of Ventura, and back down through the numerous strawberry and flower fields on the flat valley floor.

We're surrounded by mountains here and many of them are under an hour from the house, which is under a minute from the beach. 90% of the roads on today's route had awesome bike lanes and although you're never really in the "country" like back home, it is kind of good because you're always near a coffee shop or variety store in case of emergency. Oh yeah, and the last two days the surf has been going off!! Like whoa!
