Thanks to my new best friend Warren, we took a trip down to the Oakley Global Head Office in Foothill Ranch, California. In the infamous Orange County, Foothill Ranch is surrounded by mountains and populated mostly by industry, but no company's building can compare to Oakley's. Think Mad Max, 2030, special forces military vibe. Complete with working tank. The facilities at the 675,000 sqft include a bmx pump track, mtb trails, employee gym, motocross track, working tank, heli pad, 400 seat amphitheater, bonfires and sooo much more! Believe it or not, all most all of Oakley's production is done here and the process is definitely as legit as they are constantly preaching to us.
We had the VIP tour which included stops at the amphitheater, product testing (where we shot BBs and dropped spikes on lenses), the warehouse, the lens manufacturing facility (of the iridium lenses, only 50 of the 150 lenses per batch are actually acceptable!!!), the cafeteria, the marketing offices and best of all, the employee purchase store.
Our guide, Ryan Weber, was super knowledgeable and super welcoming. It was like he was just one of the crew and was never trying to "brain wash" us. Shout out to Ryan!
